New House

So, 5 days after Arleigh was born we bought a house and 5 days after that we moved (give or take a few days). I do not recommend moving so soon after having a baby, or moving twice within a four month period. The stress was unbelievable and every thing was very over whelming. There were days where I would break down over the littlest things. I didn't think I would survive. Now 6 weeks later we are doing wonderfully. Every thing is unpacked, Zoe is more used to Arleigh and is willing to let me hold her without crying, Arleigh is sleeping 6 to 7 hours at night, and spring has finally arrived. Life is good.

I thought I should put up some pictures of our new house. The only pictures I have right now are from when Ben's parent's visited and it snowed.

This is a picture of our back yard. It is completely fenced in so I won't lose Zoe and we now have our dog Tippy back.

This is our back door and the back of our house. And in the corner of the picture is my new van.

This is what we call our Barn. I think we might turn it into a chicken coop this summer.

Another picture of the back of our house. Underneath all that snow is our gigundus drive way where Zoe will have fun riding her tricycle (that she doesn't have yet).

On the right is our shop and that little building on the left is a little play house. It has a play kitchen and some chairs and a table in it. We just need to clean out some of the junk and rip up the shag carpet.

This was what the front of our house looked like a few days ago. And yes there is a house behind the trees. On Saturday we cut down those two monsters in front of the front door.

This is a side view of our property, looking at it from the street. That fenced in area is what we call our pasture. And no we are not getting a cow.
I love my house. It was built in 1923 and has a lot of character.

Here's a few things that I think make our house interesting:

* We own an acre
* We have a garden spot
* All the flowers are perennials and so the yard looks great and I haven't had to do anything
* Ben has a shop
* There is a built in secretaries desk in the living room
* There is a built in ironing board in the kitchen
* Zoe has pink and purple shag carpet in her room
* We have a diesel furnace that looks like it has been here since WWII
* We're never sure when our electricity is going to go off
* The lovely, HUGE green oven in our kitchen that has caused me to burn almost everything I've tried to cook
* The basement has a cave
* The interesting odor in the basement
* The hot tub
* IT'S OURS!!!!!

It's not perfect, but I sure do like it.

Congrats getting a new house is so exciting! That looks like a great property lots of cool features.

I hear you on the oven man the place we are renting right now is so old although my oven is tiny but it burns everything and never cooks evenly.

you are so funny Annie...sounds like you are doing fantastic...I wonder what is causing that interesting odor in the basement?

I think the odor has something to do with the carpet in the bathroom and the wall that is seeping water. Very interesting combination. :)
